Use our equity release calculator above to discover how much tax-free cash might be locked-up in the value of your home.
If want to find out more about the topic, and how Advice For Later Life can help, please read on for a quick introduction…
What is Equity Release?
Equity release, also known as a Lifetime Mortgage, allows homeowners aged 55 or older to unlock some of the cash tied up in their home. Equity is the difference between your property’s value and any outstanding loans (such as a mortgage) secured against it.
Most lifetime mortgages can be paid as a lump sum or in drawdown stages. Best of all, any funds released are tax-free and can be used however you like.
Unlike a standard mortgage, you don’t need to make any interest or capital repayments during your lifetime. Therefore you don’t need an income to qualify.
You can, however, chose to make repayments and these can be made on a regular or ad hoc basis.
What can I use a Lifetime Mortgage for?
Equity release provides tax-free cash or income to help support you financially throughout retirement. You have the freedom to spend the proceeds on anything to make life more enjoyable.
There are many uses for equity release and many reasons people choose to take out a lifetime mortgage. You can do with the money as you wish, including:
- Carry out the home and garden improvements you have been wanting for years.
- Eliminate the stress of large mortgage payments by paying off your existing mortgage. This could increase your disposable income and make life more enjoyable.
- Help your loved ones financially. It can be used to pay tuition fees, living expenses, contribute to a home deposit or finance a wedding.
- Live life to its fullest and help you achieve your lifelong dreams. You can buy that car or caravan you have always desired. Go on the dream holiday.
Do whatever you want with the money!
